Ashburton are excited to announce that we have been successful in securing a building funding grant from NHS England. The refurbishment project at Ashburton Surgery started on the 2nd December!!!! The project is expected to be completed by early April 2026.
We desperately need more space for all aspects of our work in the surgery, including space for consultations, training and research. The main objective of the project is to ensure we can utilise the space within the footprint of the building in the most efficient way, creating opportunities to increase our clinical space. The surgery is already undersized by 20% for our current patient population.
Once this work is complete, the surgery will have three additional consulting rooms, improved office space on the 1st floor, a refurbished patient waiting area, and a redesigned reception area. The Ashburton & Buckfastleigh Hospital League of Friends have very generously contributed towards the refurbishment of the patient waiting area, equipping the new consulting rooms and providing new seating in the staff rest area.
The refurbishment is being undertaken in three stages, to allow the surgery to continue to function while the work is taking place. The construction company and the team at the surgery will be working in partnership to keep any disruption to a minimum. However, it is inevitable that there will be some noise and disruption when you do attend the surgery. Parking will also be very limited during the period of the refurbishment.
How patients can help
- Allow more time to get to your appointment
- Arrange a telephone consultation if you feel you do not need to be seen face to face
- Please walk, cycle or arrange a lift to the surgery – Parking is going to be very limited and we would like to ensure that any available parking is available for our elderly/less mobile patients
- If you do drive please arrange to park along the main road/in side streets
- Understand if things run a little slower than normal
- Please accept our apologies if it is slightly more chaotic, and nosier when you attend the surgery
We are all very excited to see how the project evolves and will share the journey of how things evolve with our patients. If you have any questions or ideas please feel free to contact;
